See Different’s Changemaker grants are designed to provide graduates of the program with the tools and support they need to create real, positive change within their schools or communities.
This initiative provides financial support, mentorship, and resources to transform innovative ideas into impactful projects. Changemaker summit
The culminating event of the See Different program is the Changemaker summit, a virtual event which celebrates the achievements of grant recipients, explores critical issues in equity and inclusion, and provides valuable networking opportunities for participants.
The Changemaker summit serves as a platform for grant recipients to showcase their hard work and the impact of their projects through short presentations. Grant recipients' mentor(s), family, and community members who have supported them are all invited to join the summit as attendees, as well as all youth who have participated in the See Different program.
Mentorship component
Grant recipients are encouraged to identify, or request, a dedicated mentor who possesses expertise relevant to the project's focus area.
Applicants can specify their mentor preferences during the application process, and the program helps match them with experienced professionals aligned with their project goals. The See Different team assists recipients in identifying suitable mentors if needed.
In appreciation for their commitment, mentors can receive a $500 CAD honorarium for their time and effort. This honorarium acknowledges the valuable contribution of mentors and incentivizes their active involvement in supporting grant recipients.
Knowledge sharing circle
See Different prioritizes the establishment of a vibrant community of practice among grant recipients, fostering collaboration, learning, and collective impact beyond individual projects.
As such, grant recipients are asked to participate in a monthly, virtual knowledge sharing circle with facilitated discussions, where they will share project experiences, challenges, and insights gained. These meetings are a crucial part of the grant program as they provide an opportunity for grant recipients to report progress, receive support, and build community.
